Last week we went on vaccation to Kurnool District to visit Alampur, Yaganti, BanaganaPalle, Belum Caves and Ahobhilam.
Day-1 - Visiting Alampur: We started from Hyderabad on Thursday, 11-Aug-2011, 2:30PM. We reached to Alampur at around 6 PM. Total distance to Alampur is around 220KMs. We stayed in Arya Vysya choultry. Choultry is OK, but only one room is available in the choulty. Luckily, this room is available for us. We refreshed and went to Jogulamba temple at around 8PM. We had darshan of Jogulamba ammavaru and came to choultry and had dinner and had a sleep.
Day-2: Next morning, we went to Lord Siva temple in Alampur. Temple is good, but need more maintenance. Temple sorroundings are in filthy status. Temple authoriries to concentrate more on this and to make temple sorroundings in clean and green and to create peace atmosphere. After having breakfast at Kurnool, we travelled towards to Yaganti. Yaganti is around 130 KMs from Kurnool. We reached Yaganti at around 1:30 PM. There is only one hotel, 'Brahmani Residency', but unfortunately all the rooms are reserved and could not get accommodation there. After some enquiries, we found a room at Reddy's Satram. Here in Yaganti, there are some Nityahnna dana satrams where you can get food. No hotel is available for Lunch and Dinner. You need to go these Nityanna dana satrams.
After having lunch and some napping at room, we went to Lord Siva temple. Visited famous 'Yaganti Basavayya (Nandi)' idol. We heard that this Nandi idol will be increasing 1 CM for every 20 Yrs. Some centuries back, pilgrims were able to make Pradakshina around this Nandi Idol, but now because of the increase in size, you cannot do Pradakshina. After that, we went to Lord Venkateswara Temple. To have darshan of Venkateswara, you need to take few steps. We made Deeparadhana here. After this, we visited 'Agastya Mahamuni Caves'. There was an interesting story about Agastya here. Agastya used to make Tapassu here and he was disturbed by the sounds of crows, then Agastya cursed crows that there should not be any crow in Yaganti sorroundings. Now also, you cannot see a single crow in Yaganti.
We also visited swami vari Pushkarini (Pond) here. One more interesting thing you have to see here is, 'GANDA DEEPAM'. Every day at around 5 PM a priest will ascend a hill and light up a Deepam which will glow for 24 Hrs. This Deepam will not put off even during raining and heavey wind. After that we came back to our room and had dinner before going to bed.
Day-3: Next day morning, we started to Banagana Palle (7Km s from Yaganti) to visit Ravvala Konda. Around 3 Kms after Yaganti, you can see a huge and beautiful fort on the left side of the road. To our surprise, the famous telugu film 'ARUNDHATI' was shooted in this fort. Due to lack of time, we did not go to the fort. We reached Ravvala Konda. Potuluri Veera Bramhendra swamy used to write 'KALAGNANAM' here in a small cave. Senior citizens cannot get down into this caves. After having darshan of this caves, we travelled towards Belum Caves via Avuku. We reached Belum Caves at around 10:30 AM. We spent almost 3 Hrs in the caves. You really feel a new exp, one should not miss this Belum Caves. There is a restaurent where you can find veg & non-veg lunch. After having our lunch, we travelled towards Ahobhilam via Avuku & Allagadda. Road condition is OK. You need to travel through Nallamala Forest to reach Ahobhilam. Nature lovers will enjoy this journey. We reached to Ahobhilam at around 5 PM. After strenuous effort, we found a room in Arya Vysya satram. There was a huge crowd in Ahobhilam because of long week-end. We visited 'Diguva Ahobhila Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy' temple to have Darshan of Lakshmi Narasimha swamy. Temple is very beautiful, still you see the beautiful sculpture on the temple walls. To view the beauty of South India Temple sculpture, this temple is a very good example. We came back to our room and had dinner.
Day - 4: Next day morning, we had break fast and started towards 'Yeguva Ahobhilam' by our car. Total distance is around 8 KMs. Road condition is good and as usual you will travel through forest and is a nice exp. After reaching here, you need to take few steps (around 70 steps) to reach 'Yeguva Ahobhilam' temple. There was huge crowd at this temple, so we throught we need to visti 'Jwala Narasimha Swamy' temple, which is 3KMs from Yeguva Ahobhilam temple. You need to treck a hill and to cross small water streams and rocks to reach Jwala Narasimha swamy. In this location, Lord Narasimha swamy killed Hiranyasiya, the then king of Asura. We also took the water from the water fall which is very near to the temple. This water is very pure and is very good for the health. After taking this water my kid's running nose is stopped immediately. We also felt energetic by taking this water. So, don't miss taking this water. After having darshan of Jwala Narasimha swamy, we get down and had darshan 'Eguva Ahobhilam Lakshmi Narasimha swamy' and get down to Ahobhilam. After having lunch and a small break, we started at 4:30PM to Hyderabad via Allagadda, Nandyal and Kurnool. We reached Hyd at around 11:30PM.
